RETRO: What Do You Remember about the Movie- Girls Cot?

It’s another Throwback Thursday, an opportunity to review Nollywood movies of yesteryears. I recently saw the movie Girls Cot- who remembers it?

The movie was a hit back in the day, released in 2006, produced by Sylvester Obadigie and directed by Afam Okereke, it features our favorite Nollywood celebrities all in one production. With the likes of Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Ini Edo, Benita Nzeribe, Uche Jombo, who brought their A game on set, it was absolutely fun watching them. Asides starring Nollywood’s A-list actors, the movie was also a hilarious one, entertaining all the way.

Girls Cot tells us about some university undergraduates and the many shady things they do to survive and live fake lives meant for the rich and famous. Genevieve plays the role of Queen, the character that goes around telling anyone who cares to know that she’s the vice president’s daughter (an illegitimate child), by that she gets her friends to do her bidding and also duping unsuspecting victims. She moves with the high and mighty in society and connects her friends to men for money. She really did pull out all the stops on this one. The movie is in three parts, it was released at a time when splitting films into several parts was the order of the day in Nollywood.
